Really dA?

1 min read

Is this a new buggaboo or an old one that still hasn't gotten enough attention to get a fix?

Ya know that old way of doing things here, where you could simply click on the list of users who favored your image and their profile pops up, you could click on them, and then skip over to their "Favorites" folder and you could find stuff of similar interests to your own by visiting other users that way?

Try this now and all you end up with is a near empty pop up window... How are we supposed to find things of similar interests if we can't find out who faved your stuff in the first place?... Oh right.... devArt's current search engine....

Hmm helpful that is... as Yoda would say.

Well at least most everything else of devArt works... I... think...

This is a "new ownership" Eclipse thing isn't it?

Wait so, we now need to use the pound symbol, or hashtag in the search bar to find anything relevant to what you're looking for, like say hashtag # Twokinds to find SOMETHING similar to Tom Fischbach's works?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Yeah this shows how long I've been away from dA... back when you could simply type "Twokinds" in the search bar and dA would happily over saturate you with all of Tom's goodness... but now... now I don't even know how to describe what doing this results in...

I guess this is all a thing with getting used to the 2023 version of devArt.

Ah well, see you guys around, now that I KNOW how to find you, with a #

Oh so DA is still a thing? Interesting!

Yeah it's been awhile hasn't it?

*waves* πŸ‘‹

For those unfamiliar, I go by the web-name of Yuki Nezumi and I was once rather familiar with deviantArt, but one thing or another, not to mention the change of ownership of the site made me loose interest in continued use, so I stopped posting for a bit... some would say years... but I never pulled the plug because I felt that some day I may return, and it would have been a shame to delete all of the cheesy, meme-ish, works that I had posted early in my online journey, so I kept things up, and now it seems I may indeed be returning to activity once I can get myself organized and stuff.

Had a bunch of IRL things to deal with, least of which illness and loss of family members, but I'm not one to speak of these things, rather I'm saying this to give a broad view of what happened in the years since I've stopped activity here on DA. But I've realized that despite these things, life goes on and I'd like to pick up on my hobby of art once again, and if I do, figured picking up on DA again would be a good thing.

I miss seeing many artists here that I wouldn't see elsewhere, and this is perhaps another reason to stop being inactive, and rejoin the community here on DA, but one thing seems to be clear, in that DA sure has changed since I went silent back in 2019?

I mean yeah, the ownership is different, and the use interface is different, but it seems even the AUP and TOS is different than what I remember! For one thing, mature content seems to have been given more acceptance around here now. Yes some sexy fun stuff is STILL considered unacceptable, and that's understandable, but what's this I've seen where some mature content can be unlocked via pay-wall? If that's so, this sure isn't the old DA I remember. xD

Anyhow I'm curious to pick up on things here again, and in time post new random of my own in my usual flavor. It would also be nice to see who stayed even as a mass exodus happened years back and pick up on their works again. I'm pretty sure some major players, like Baron Engel and Tom Fischbach are still here and active, and as mentioned above, it'd be nice to catch up on their works, and others again.

For now though... Hey DA πŸ‘‹ Nice to see things are kinda still what I remember them to be.

Be back and active again soon.

Yuki Nezumi the rat that kinda bailed on DA, but kinda didn't. xD 🐁

I see!

devArt is fully functional again, and no less active than three years back when the change of ownership happened. Nice nice! I've been away for that long.. even if it doesn't seem like it.. Three years went by so fast!..

Anyhow I think I should make a quiet gradual return to dA now that the issues that bothered me so much, namely the gosh awful slow response and sluggishness has been for the most part worked out, and I miss this place. There's a bunch of stuff you can only find here on dA that you can't find anywhere else, and I wanna get caught up again, and the only way is to return to activity here.

So on that note, hello again deviantArt, I'm NezumiYuki in case you've forgotten. xD

Has Wix fix dA?

1 min read

A casual observation on my part, having spent more time at other art sites.

Seems to me that the once very delayed, almost laggy, if you will, nature of Wix/DeviantArt was what had driven me away for more than a month.

I've occasionally logged back in, just to catch up on awesome artists and arts I've missed in that time, and to my surprise, today, 2020Sep3, I couldn't help but notice that dA is far FAR less laggy and more responsive!

I really hope this is the case and not just a fluke, because I still do love dA for what it offers, great arts and awesome artists and peers, and I'd hate to think lag could drive away others as it had with me.

Here's hoping wix really are sorting out the issues with dA!
