This is being tossed into my scrapbook because I am currently in the process of re-scaling the Sapphire back to 100% and be the same size as the Leiji Matsumoto.
Originally I had intended the Sapphire Queen to be Yuki's new super ironclad on a size base that's half the size of the Leiji, and yet 1.5 times bigger than the Warlock, but I am having second thoughts on this.
After running some simulations in program and plugging in some very elementary model physics such as armor density, thickness, composition, and overall hull mass, I've found that a ship 1.5 times larger than the Warlock would encounter some serious problems combating huge mobile fortresses like the sort the Bolar Federation employ, as well as say season two "Comet Empire" type mobile fort and super dreadnought.
While being larger than the Warlock does allow for an overall armor thickness three times thicker and better than the Warlock, her resultant mobility drop due to a huge 8 fold increase in inertia and mass would make the Sapphire Queen in her present form something of a easy target for monstrous mobile fortresses like the Comet Empire or the Bolars.
True the maneuverability of the Leiji Matsumoto is even worse than the Queen in her current size, Leiji has a full 6 fold the armor protection by sheer mass alone.. factor in more physical space of the Leiji for more complex armor compositions akin to modern tank armor like "Chobham" with a unique spaced layout again similar to modern tank armors, and as large as it is, the Leiji is clearly superior in ever factor compared to the Queen, so Sapphy is going on a bulk-me-up super-sizing. XDDD
I had tried to work around the shortcomings in the Queen's sluggish maneuverability with increased firepower to compensate, but in a long drawn out battle with a much larger dreadnought the size of the Leiji, or larger, as the case may-be with the Bolars and the Comet Empire, and all simulations point to my new Sapphire Queen falling before the Warlock can suffer critical damages that would put it out of action.
In short, the Queen in her present form is a dud.. a FAIL-BOAT one which I will not keep in my fleet because when dealing with megalomaniacs like Prinz Zordar, or Bolar Prime-minister Bemlayze, Max and I will need sturdy ships to deal with them, and we can't afford to waste resources on design evolutions that fail. =/
