Mario Kart Madness - wip

This is a work in progress of a generic MarioKart like background with a few small pipes, clouds, and hills with the track coming from between the hills to the left, and coming across to the right of the viewer. I don't now who to place in the immediate foreground, whether Petey Piranha or Chain Chomp, but I'll figure that out once I start drawing in the karts and the characters in this scene. I have another scene in mind, regarding one of my favorite DoubleDash tracks but that one will take more time to figure out than this simple one since any MarioKart post N64 is much more graphic intensive, with tons more background elements in them, so I may cut corners but at least try to keep the flavor of DoubleDash without straining myself trying to draw up all that stuff.

A bit of caution towards Patrick the Thursday Theif!! Don't think you'll be immune to the hazards of the game just because you're a sneaky bastard and know all the sort cuts! You can't out run the Blue Shell from Hell, and certainly not the Thunderbolt that'll shrink you down after it blasts you!!

And as of March-17-2014 this image has been updated to reflect my current state of progress, which now features Patrick Mouse still in the lead, but with a new kart, the Princess Coach, fast catching up and about to overtake! Patrick is desperately trying to reach the Power Up mystery cube before the Heart Coach and it's occupants catch him! It may be that the team catching up to Patrick may saved a power-up from the previous lap, and are about to use it on Pat, hence his desperation to get a new power-up to either block the impending attack, or counter-attack once the Peach Kart driver and assistant had played their move.

But what neither karts realize is that coming up the valley behind them, and about the crest the ridge which both karts have now since past, there is another team also quickly catching up! Just who they are, and what they will be driving is yet to be decided, but that will come in the next update.

Incidentally I sort of like how the 3D princess kart turned out with this PhotoShop composite, and its making me rethink how I could best be portraying this art... While I usually prefer to hand draw everything when it comes to photoshop jobs like this.. I'm feeling that this composite might be the best way forward, so I may reintroduce the Princess Kart with full colors instead of black and whites that I had intended to use as simple reference for my hand drawing, as how I've done for Patrick and the Red Fire he is driving.
