Hughes-Schweizer-300c large warehouse preview

Description

This is a white colored heavily refined and detailed version of the Hughes 300 that I've used as my Planes-sona, but since I wanted to detail that model to even higher accuracy, I figured I could share it with everyone as a stand alone model that is more like the real life machine than my Disney-fied Planes version. :XD:

The dashboard is simple because 1: I do not know precisely which gauge layout is currently being used by Sikorsky, and 2: a highly detailed dashboard would add to the polygon count, which already the model is pushing high 6mb, low 7mb, so other areas had to be simplified as well, like the tube frame around the engine for an example. The high poly counts come from details to the mast, rotor-head, pitch linkages, tail fins, tail-rotor, tail rotor gearbox, and the NACA profile main rotor blades.

I tried to cut back on polygons even further by making a very simple canopy extrusion, but it looked ugly so I split the difference and gave the model a moderately high poly-count plastic bubble canopy with doors on separate layers to appear as with, and without doors, as seen on various ships of the type.

So then this is a large preview for 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model…

Just a bit of 3D silly to keep myself amused whilst I contemplate finding time to whip up more hand drawn stuff. =D Enjoy!

Hughes > Schweizer > Sikorsky Model 300 Charlie is as the chain suggests, once owned by Hughes Aircraft, then Schweizer, and now Sikorsky Helicopters US.

Nice looking bird you have there. I didn't realize anyone was still using piston power in helos. I could be mistaken, though.
