Description

Here's something of a beauty-shot of Uchu Senkan Yamato firing her famous Wave Motion Gun, or Hado ho, presumably at the artificial star trying to crush her between it and the planet Balan below, somewhere about a quarter of the way between the Milkyway, Earth, and the large Magellanic Cloud where Iscandar was said to be found.

Domel's plan to use the artificial star or sun to crush the Yamato by taking advantage of her determination to destroy the gathering base on Balan, and with the Yamato's attentions focused on the assault, Domel had the fake star maneuvered out of high orbit over Balan and use the planet's gravity and the fake star's momentum to pin the Yamato between her corona and the planet surface, leaving no path of escape, ultimately crushing Yamato on the planet and sacrificing Balan Base in the process.

The plan would have worked but Captain Okita realized the star was a fake after some facts where presented as well as the fake star's orbit changing, and ordered Kodai to fire the wave gun at the artificial star and destroy it before it destroyed them!

Also a subordinate commander under General Domel disliked his commander's wasteful approach to destroying the Yamato by sacrificing Balan base and her Gamilonian occupants just to eliminate the Earth ship. A message was sent over Domel's head back to Gamilus, and leader Desslok ordered Domel to stop his mad scheme, giving the Yamato just enough time to make a full about turn, and fire on the fake star and destroying it. However the burning remains of the false star still came crashing down on to Balan Base, and thus put Domel in a little bad light with leader Desslok and other superior commanders under Dessy.

****

I would have loved to have modeled the false star and planet Balan with the Yamato between them, but considering the scale involved with simulating even a small planet in relation to the Yamato, never mind trying to model a fake star, I simply chose the easy route out, and modeled Yamato firing her Wave Motion Gun because at the extreme distance from the camera in SketchUp to view either Balan, or her fake star, you wouldn't see the Yamato, nor would you probably have seen much of her tachyon beam spat out by her wave-gun-shot! XDDD

Hard numbers can be a real bitch at times, and certainly get in the way of a good story telling. =/ Something I think poor Leiji san came to grips with numerous times while dealing with the Yamato project. *head tilt* Luckily Yamato was not so heavily dependent on hard science facts as much as say, StarTrek, because if you think about it... A fake star... That bloody darn huge!!! So how do you best display a false star crashing down planet side, trying to catch the Yamato between it and the planet and still see the Yamato in camera?

Easy, fake the scale of the star and Yamato so her beauty shot can be seen and yet folks can still believe the fake star is believably large! :giggle:

Anyhooo enjoy my latest pic of Uchuu Senkan Yamato, this time firing her famous cannon in a blackness of deep space photo opportunity. =D

Uchuu Senkan Yamato is owned by Yoshinobu Nishizaki, but really, Leiji Matsumoto created her.

Matsumoto banzai! :salute:

Footnote: Just in case other fans of Yamato might make the same mistake I've made, trust in online translators more since I've recently found out that I've misspelled Hadohou, or Hadouho, when it really should read as Hado ho.

As such I've updated the title of this pic and added this footnote just in case others might make the same mistake I had. *head tilt*

No lazer, hadouken, or even Chaos Blast could possibly match the power of Wave Motion Energy like what gets unleashed here!

Fantastic job! Enjoyed both the original series and the 2199 reboot, and looking forward to when they complete 2202!
